Vermont law requires marriages or civil unions to be solemnized by a justice, a resident minister or priest, or a duly authorized minister or priest from another state.

Vermont law allows for a shorter warning period for budgets that are voted by Australian budget (7 days) in 17 V.S.A. §2680, but there is no such exception for floor votes.

Given its extensive and distinguished service, a study of the Vermont Brigade that combines a readable and well-researched narrative of events, with careful analysis of the organizational, operational, political, and social factors, that shaped the brigade's experience serving the Union cause, would be a welcome addition to the Civil War literature indeed.

The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities has estimated that the President’s tax cut would reduce state revenues by $2.6 billion in state fiscal year 2004, which begins on July 1, rising to $3.3 billion in state fiscal year 2005 and $3.5 billion in state fiscal year 2006.

Vermont Governor Howard Dean has again proven himself to be a formidable obstacle to methadone maintenance therapy in Vermont.
In May 2000, the state of Vermont finally joined 44 other states and passed a law allowing for methadone maintenance, despite the opposition from the Governor.
Although a methadone clinic has yet to open in Vermont -- the first is scheduled to open in January 2002 in Burlington - the Vermont Department of Corrections recently announced plans to allow certain inmates to receive methadone in jail.
