I suggest including gazetted towns that are now abandoned as they sill played a significant part in our history and that of other countries, by this I mean towns that have been surveyed and lots designated for developement.
'Western Australia does not have daylight saving, considering the major population centres in the south of the state experience very early sunrises in summer and early sunsets.
Given that Western Australians have on three seperate occasions freely voted for no day light saving this has no relevance on a page about Western Australian in a topic on Geography.

 Second World War
The Australian mainland came under direct attack for the first time as Japanese aircraft bombed towns in north-western Australia and Japanese midget submarines attacked Sydney harbour.
A few Australians flew in the Battle of Britain in August and September of the same year, but the Australian Army was not engaged in combat until 1941, when the 6th, 7th and 9th Divisions joined Allied operations in the Mediterranean and North Africa.
Australian troops were mainly engaged in land battles in New Guinea, the defeat of the Japanese at Wau and clearing Japanese soldiers from the Huon Peninsula - Australia's largest and most complex offensive of the war, not completed until April 1944.

Twelve Hundred Australian soldiers the fathers and brothers of these children gave their lives in the heroic recapture of this town from the invader on 24th April 1918 and are buried near this spot.
This obelisk is similar to other Australian memorials in France and Australia; and is situated on a ridge North of the Somme River near the town of Sailly-le-Sec, on the Bray- Corbie road.
