Wiki - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The most prominent, on almost every wiki, is the "Recent Changes" page—a specific list numbering recent edits, or a list of all the edits made within a given timeframe.
A regular wiki user can view the diff of an edit listed on the "Recent Changes" page and, if it is an unacceptable edit, consult the history, restoring a previous revision; this process is more or less streamlined, depending on the wiki software used.
The largest wikis are listed at meta:List of largest wikis (and a list from July 3, 2004 on Meatball: Biggest wikis).

April 1, 2006 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
On Triple J Radio in Australia, morning hosts were claiming that, to celebrate 'Urban month' the station was going to be changing the entire month's play list to only feature hip hop, much to the complaint of many listeners calling in.
The paper also had a couple other fake articles such as gun club reaches annual fundraising goal of 26,000 dollars, which is followed by an article stating that a club of masked men and women robbed the Jackson Hole bank and stole 26,000 dollars.
However, this is "stirring up a controversy" as the "Simia mina are in an enclosure not much bigger than the bedroom of an HDB flat, and will be kept there till April 31".

Wikipedia - Uncyclopedia   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-08-21)
Some say that it is actually a database including such things as: lists of trains, Mortal Kombat characters, one-time villains from Mario games, road intersections, boring suburban schools, garage bands, cats, dead flounders, webcomics, Bionicle characters, kittens' headquarterwebforums, characters from English soap operas, Mortal Kombat characters that don't exist, and a thing they call articles.
In addition, lists are known to be made and deleted everyday as constant reminders that death IS indeed near, and certain conservatives accuse it of harboring way too many hippie liberals.
Articles are created by a random topic generator, with visitors adding to the topic.

Waxy.org: Daily Log: Wordpress Website's Search Engine Spam
The articles are given to him by Hot Nacho, a startup that pays freelance writers to generate 300-800 word articles about specific topics.
The fact that these "articles" were obfuscated from the rest of the Wordpress website leads one to believe that the owner, Matt, knew the obvious conclusion most would draw and decided to hide it.
Based on his level of committment, and his willingness to take risks, I'm willing to entertain the idea that Matt's intentions and motivations are many, and that some of those will result in better anti-spam tools and practices.

Internet Research Ethics: List Mining, Open Access
List Owner's Message: Contains an explicit Caution regarding BCRA test results, but otherwise provides minimal guidelines, and none that are explicitly about possible uses of the BCML for research purposes (other than a statement that it is "open to researchers").
When this list of sites is compared with another list that's obtained when the same categories are used to browse in the Alexa site, the only difference is that the default version of the latter list is sorted in order of popularity, while the former is not.
If messages sent to a mailing list are not in the public domain unless explicitly placed there, then it shouldn't be presumed that informed consent is not needed for "naturalistic observations", nor for "archival research" (when such research involves messages sent to mailing lists), and that only the confidentiality of participants needs to be protected.

SEOmoz | Articles >> Search Engine Ranking Factors
Attempting to understand a theme of a document (without looking at other documents) based upon paragraph headings, especially based upon layout without the use of heading elements, is probably not much of a relevance factor.
A website's primary topic (as determined through analysis of the content of its hosted documents) may influence how well it is able to rank pages on similar, corresponding or off-topic subjects.
Affiliations between websites via reciprocal linking, shared hosting, shared domain registration affiliations or other methods may impact the value of a link from any documents at one site to the other (typically by dampening their effectiveness).

The listing also carries surprising movies which were not necessarily critical hits but which have developed broad followings among movie fans (including films such as The Shawshank Redemption, Snatch and Memento).
In practice, however, many of the films atop critical yearly and historical best picture lists appear high on the Top 250 as well, raising the question of whether the opinions of the film critics and movie-goers are all that different after all.

This also means that there are 29 non-WikiPedia wikis on this list, and the data on these wikis is quite interesting and far from "Mist".
