		Whether a municipality is a city, village or town is dependent not only on the community's population or area, but in large part on the form of government selected by the residents and approved by the Wisconsin State Legislature.
		In Wisconsin, a town is a municipality within a county; in this usage, Wisconsin towns are similar to civil townships.
		The Town of Menominee is unique in that it is coextensive with the County of Menominee, and covers 365 square miles; this is due to its unique history and connection with the Menominee Indian Reservation.

		General Description and Characteristics -- The Wisconsin is the longest river in the state that was named for it, flowing 430 miles from the lakes region of northern Wisconsin to its mouth on the Mississippi River between Prairie du Chien and Wyalusing.
		The upper Wisconsin offers some good sections for canoeing, but it is dammed up at many locations, so only the lower Wisconsin offers the opportunity for a long canoe camping excursion.

		According to a new study by Demographics Daily, published September 18, 2000, River Falls, Wisconsin is one of 141 "dreamtowns" in the U.S. based on quality of life in small cities.
		The study designated 141 places as "dreamtowns," defined as cities with populations of 10,000 to 50,000 that offer an outstanding quality of life.
		Minnesota and Wisconsin had the most, 12 dreamtowns each.
