A conspiracy theory is a theory that defies common historical or current understanding of events, under the claim that those events are the result of manipulations by one or more secretive powers or conspiracies.
But because routine conspiracy theories are often simply allegations of covert action, and because these tend to be based on little or no solid evidence, the expression "conspiracy theory," in common speech is used to refer to allegations of collusion that the speaker considers unproven, unlikely, or false.

Such conspiracies are considered crimes in many nations, and one can be prosecuted on the basis of conspiring to commit an illegal act or being part of a network that was engaged in doing so.
The subject of suppressed-invention conspiracy also touches on the realm of medical quackery: proponents of more unlikely forms of alternative medicine are known to allege conspiracy by mainstream doctors to suppress their cures, particularly when faced with charges of medical fraud.
Conspiracy theories of this sort cast government agencies as pursuing vast technical powers in order to spy on people, control their minds, or otherwise suppress an alienated populace.

I dunno, when I saw that, it just looked like someone was saying that critics of corporate globalization are whacko conspiracy theorists (it is common for people to claim that everyone on the radical left is a conspiracy theorist, which is unfounded and kind of insulting..).
A lot of theories and subjects under the 'global conspiracies' heading actually only apply to the United States, for instance the Council on Foreign Relations, Nick Berg, and arguably the Bush Family.
While discussing Diana's death one of the motivations is listed as ebing due to her desire to convert to Islam and divorce the Prince of Wales.

ABC Radio National - Background Briefing: 1 May  2005  - Conspiracy Theories
For example, something like the death of Diana; there’s loads of conspiracy theories associated with that, and these are quite fantastical conspiracy theories involving conspiracies between nurses on the scene, people driving pandas and so on.
And if you are a conspiracy theorist, then you’ll look for evidence and you’ll deal with other bits of evidence that come your way, in a way that’s consistent with that conspiracy theory.
But that means that today’s conspiracy is sort of gone tomorrow, and what I think is more noticeable is the sort of constant stream of conspiracy thinking, and conspiracy interest, and perhaps the individual ingredients, and therefore the individual answers that are provided aren’t really the point.

The Freemason theory is one current variation of these earlier theories, and persons who embrace this theory often point to Masonic symbols on the dollar bill as evidence of the conspiracy.
It is the secular humanist conspiracy theory that is central to many of the groups involved in religious right organizing in Massachusetts, such as the Christian Coalition, Focus on the Family, Eagle Forum, and Concerned Women for America.
The secular humanist conspiracy theory is a variation of the Freemason conspiracy theory, and is spread by elements in the Protestant Christian Reconstructionist and Dominion Theology branches of the Christian Right.

At the peak of the Enron scandal and in the aftermath of the attack on Afghanistan, a fascinating document surfaced in conspiracy circles that told of a bank-breaking Enron venture: A power plant the firm had partly built in India.

Conspiracy authors bought into Carmen's uncorroborated stories because she was the person who could provide the most salacious details of the alleged RFK/Monroe "romance." As Frederick Forsyth, a confessed conspiracy theoriser in many of his thriller novels, has said of the Diana-Dodi case: "It is high time the world adjudged the conspiracy theories to be what they are: as weird as they are offensive."

Many will nod their head, OK, that does it and go back to watching the NBA finals or whatever, but I find this theory just about as satisfying as the fantastic conspiracy theory that "19 young Arabs acting at the behest of Islamist extremists headquartered in distant Afghanistan" caused 9/11.
The government’s collapse theory is highly vulnerable on its own terms, but its blinkered narrowness and lack of breadth is the paramount defect unshared by its principal scientific rival – controlled demolition.
Also supporting this theory is the fact that the uniformly neat ends of the blown perimeter columns are consistent with the linear shaped charges demolition experts use to slice steel as thick as 10 inches.

The greatest, most evil and insidious conspiracy of all time might be the distraction of the human mind from the weightier matters of life.
Conspiracy in this case was simply a group of people (whether they are individuals who exercise control over media people or powerful media people themselves) desiring to control the outcome of this election, and then the consequent necessary planning in order to make their desired outcome a reality.

• The invasion of Afghanistan was presented as an attempt to pursue the alleged perpetrators of 9/11, yet it had been discussed for years prior to the tragedy and actually planned in the months before the attacks on New York and Washington.
