An amblypygid is an invertebrate animal belonging to the order Amblypygi in the class Arachnida, in the subphylum Chelicerata of the phylum Arthropoda.
The name "amblypygid" means "blunt rump", a reference to a lack of the telson ("tail") carried by related species.
Amblypygids often move about sideways on their six walking legs, with one "whip" pointed in the direction of travel while the other probes on either side of them.

However Amblypygid taxonomy is currently in considerable confusion reguarding species level identifications for a number of genera and it may well be that producing a key to species was just not possible at the moment.
Each taxon listed is given a list of synonyms with dates and other important information, and its distribution in terms of major geographical regions, countries, and in many cases states or territories is mentioned.
Chapter 4 is a short discussion of possible phylogenetic relationships of the 4 genera involved which are not closely related on a monophyletic grouping.

This bibliography is intended to provide a comprehensive list of publications from 1960 to 1994 that deal with the family Phytoseiidae.
To make this bibliographic list usable we have included several indices to help in locating publications on a specific topic, including a prey species index, effects of pesticides on phytoseiid index, species description index, general subject index, and author index.
