The specific culture concept that particular anthropologists work with is an important matter because it may influence the research problems they investigate, their methods and interpretations, and the positions they take on public policy issues.
Some anthropologists would define culture entirely as mental rules guiding behavior, although often wide divergence exists between the acknowledged rules for correct behavior and what people actually do.

 SOLGA: List Service Etiquette
Here's an inappropriate responsive posting to the list: "Great question!" In general, the listserv is not the appropriate forum for posting a message that merely forwards one or more old messages with a comment along the lines of "I agree!" Such comments should be sent off-list, i.e., privately.
Another example: If someone e-mails the list requesting information about a topic, book or article, or conference, replies should be directed to the original requester privately and not to the whole list.
Subscribers who post to the list in ways that seriously violate the guidelines will eventually be given a formal warning from the SOLGA Board advising them of their misuse of the SOLGA listserv, and identifying the specific guideline(s) the subscriber has neglected to follow.

More importantly, I think this list demonstrates that an author does not have to be from one of the "hot" universities to successfully publish in either the mainstream or marginal journals.
These differences may show a schism between current hot topics and what was commonly studied when the authors’ were in school (a time when the foundation of their sub-disciplines were laid).
For example, one article questioned how two anthropologists could visit the same society and yet have two different conceptions of the culture, and how in the face of this difference, they could both still have authority.
