Emerging Research Fronts Comments by Richard J. Mural
One of the best ways to begin to understand the biological meaning of the sequence of the human genome is to compare it to sequences of the genomes of other organisms.
The mouse is a particularly useful animal for this comparison because it is, like humans, a mammal and because it is widely used in biomedical research.
Comparing chromosome 16 of the mouse to the entire human genome, we find very long segments, millions of base pairs, which contain the same genes in the same order in both species.

Fast Breaking Comment by Etienne Duguet
For nearly 10 years, the Institute of Condensed Matter Chemistry of Bordeaux (Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique, Science and Technology, University of Bordeaux) has been involved in the magnetic nanoparticles field for biomedical applications.
Of course there were failures, but we were given the opportunity to try to overcome the problems we encountered and these failures were turned into successes.
As one example, we have received a patent for a new hybrid platform called VUSPIO (Versatile Ultrasmall Superparamagnetic Iron Oxide), which is undergoing biomedical tests and has already proven to be an efficient targeting MRI contrast agent.

Pan Pharmaceuticals Recall of Australian Dietary Supplements
In interviews with 80 doctors, Heather Eastwood, a social science lecturer at the University of Queensland's School of Population Health, found GP's were attracted to offering complementary therapies because they resented their role as prescription writers and Medicare gatekeepers.
Early in the crisis, before the full list of affected products had been discovered, sources within the medical and pharmaceutical industries stated confidently that consumers should have absolutely no doubt about the quality of prescription medicines as these were not affected (46,47,48).
This clearly represents a considerable degree of desperation about the progress of what is obviously an ongoing agenda to convince the public of the dangers of alternative therapies and thereby justify increased regulatory controls.
