This site is aimed at all the people interested in the fascinating world of Indian birds some of whom may not be aware of ornithological terms, names, etc. The response to this effort has been very encouraging.
Out of 8,600 Bird Species(about 30,000 if subspecies or geographical races are taken into account) the Indian subcontinent affords suitable living conditions for more than 2,400 Birds(Species and subspecies) of which over 300 are winter visitors.
All necessary precautions have been taken during the course of photography to ensure the safety of the nest and the bird and also not to disturb the birds.

The maps are miniscule and that limits their utility; the use of two colours would have helped under the circumstances.
It is the only book of one volume that covers all the birds of the Indian subcontinent with this quality of illustration.

There are now many books on Indian birds.
Salim Ali's Book of Indian Birds is still the best place for the beginner to learn the ropes, while Grimmett and Co's big book has all the fine points of identification.
But this book is definitely the best at what it sets out to do - it is a compact, easy to use (and useful!) book, covering all the species, which I find myself compulsively opening and re-opening.
