The BISEXU-L list was founded in November 1989 by a couple of people (one of whom, Julie Waters, is still an active list member) who wanted to create a place on the net where bisexuals could talk openly about their relationships with any gender.
This list is not intended in the spirit of separatism from any existing lists relevant to lesbian, gay and bisexual issues; rather it is an additional forum for discussion of bisexual concerns in particular.

Bisexuals have to face loved ones who have relied in the past on their attraction to them being constant, and who have to assure them that it will be there in the future.
Bisexuals deal with friends who assure them that their attraction to members of the same sex (MOTSS) is just "a way of avoiding intimacy" or that their attraction to members of the opposite sex (MOTOS) is "internalized homophobia".
A bisexual deciding to be monogamous is not deciding to be "gay" or "straight." He/she is still bisexual; he/she has chosen a PERSON to live his/her life with, not an orientation, preference or idealogue.

While I definetly agree that bisexuals are a largely invisible group in the gay community, or, as the book puts it, "queer among queers," I would have liked to see more stories of those who felt equally invisible among heterosexual company.
Most of the pieces are essays of a fairly personal nature but there are a few interviews, some poetry, and some visuals; there are even some non-bisexuals writing about their friends and family who have come out to them.
I read a whole bunch of bisexual books and by far this was the best written- I highly suggest this be the book you read on this subject- before any of the others....

The site www.nndb.com lists Hedy Lamarr as bisexual, and I've read elsewhere that she had "at least one same-sex affair", but I can't find any details.
There were quite a few bisexual woman/men around at that time, I believe.
James Dean was also, apparently, a somewhat openly bisexual man. I know there are a couple more but I just can't think of them at the moment.
