Preliminary results have highlighted a number of characteristics peculiar to centenarians: they often have a family history of longevity, live in comfortable, family environments, have been hard workers and possess well-preserved psychological and cognitive abilities.
International research into centenarians includes work on demographic and dietary characteristics, ill addition to examining genetic/biological, neurological and neuropathological aspects of this age group and their life style and methods of coping [4-13].
With the lists provided, we were able to gain access to the names of 57 people aged 100 years or more, 42 of whom were resident in Padua, six in Pordenone and the remaining nine in the other municipalities of the health unit.

The most remarkable woman centenarian on my list was Margaret Ruthven Lang, of the Boston musical dynasty of Lang, who died at the age of 104 in 1972.
Among other recent centenarians was the French conductor and composer Henri-Paul Busser who died in 1973 at the age of 101.

The Guinness Book of Records lists the Phipps Twins as the oldest surviving twins ever claiming that Eli died on February 23, 1911, living to be 108 years, 9 days and that John died on December 10, 1916, living to be 113 years, 300 days.
The Moyers also have a listing sister (as of Dale's 109th birthday on June 20, 2004) who was aged 102 at the time.
One of our newest additions to this list (Nov. 11, 2004) are Louise Dilworth and Lucy Turner of Tallahassee, Florida, who each celebrated their 103rd birthdays together on Nov. 11, 2004.
