Family Guy - Encyclopedia, History, Geography and Biography
The title character is Peter Griffin, an inept blue-collar worker head of a middle class family frequently beset by the consequences of his foolish antics.
Family Guy's brand of humor is notable for the usually brief, frequently nonsensical cutaways (usually featuring oddball pop culture references) and flashbacks to various points in history, geography, and reality involving the characters and their ludicrous actions (see "Structure and comedic approach" below).
Of course, the nuclear family is a sitcom staple, as are boorish father/husband figures, and the children in the Griffin family are vastly different in terms of personality from their Simpsons counterparts.

Something Old, Nothing New: Why I Hate FAMILY GUY
The characters are so boring, such a dull collection of sitcom stereotypes from the creator's youthful TV-watching binges, that there is virtually no humor to be gotten from the characters.
Talk to the average young Family Guy fan and you'll usually hear that what they like best about the show is that it refers to things they saw when they were growing up, and they're just tickled to find that someone else remembers it -- like the "kid in me/adult in me" commercial.
Family Guy goes beyond that; it doesn't even try to have a joke half the time -- it just assumes that making a pop culture reference is inherently funny.

 Family Guy
Family Guy's brand of humor is notable for the (usually) brief, frequently nonsensical cutaways and flashbacks to various points in history, geography, and reality involving the characters and their ludicrous actions (see "Structural and comedic approach" below).
Though this style is often played within the characters' world, the series is also known for its use of cutaways, where the plot is interrupted and segues into unrelated, self-contained sketches - known as 'gags' around Family Guy - of variable length.
The first Family Guy film, released as a direct-to-video movie on September 27, 2005, focuses on Stewie seeing somebody he believes to be his real father and setting off on a road trip to find him.

To date it is one of only a handful of shows in television history to be cancelled and later revived by the power of their fan bases, and one of the few shows to be brought back to air by the same network that cancelled it (see Cagney and Lacey).
Being a largely adult-oriented program, Family Guy has become a lightning rod of controversy for its brusque approach to comedy, which deals with politically sensitive topics without enormous concern for the boundaries of good taste—often considered one of the primary reasons for its initial cancellation.
Family Guy led the list of "worst prime-time shows for family viewing" released by the Parents Television Council in 2005.

"Family Guy" (1999)   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-02)
But I'm going to admit that the family does bear some personality resemblances to 'The Simpsons' especially mom and dad Peter (Seth MacFarlane) and Lois (Alex Borstein) but when you get past these obvious comparisons, 'Family Guy' is a brilliant show on it's own.
The youngest in the family is adorable baby Stewie (Seth MacFarlane again) who is rather vulgar, speaks with a comical accent and is planning to kill his mother and rule the world.
Their son Chris (Seth Green) is, like his father, potty mouthed and has an intense fascination with the opposite sex yet he seems to be very child like underneath and always tries to proves that there's an evil monkey operating in his closet.

 Family Guy
However, Family Guy does work, transcending its (occasionally annoyingly) obvious influences with reliably crisp writing and the glorious sight gags contained in the surreal flashbacks which punctuate the episodes.
Most importantly, the show's brilliance comes from two absolutely superb characters: Stewie, the baby whose extravagant dreams of tyrannising the world are perpetually thwarted by the prosaic limitations of infanthood, and the urbane family dog Brian--Snoopy after attendance at an obedience class run by Frank Sinatra.
Family Guy does not possess the cultural or satirical depth of The Simpsons--very little art in any field does.

Resulting from this, the English and French royal families would fight many bloody wars trying to settle who was supposed to rule what.
William's family acquired lands throughout France and ruled them as Englishmen, which really upset the French kings.

Family Guy - Volume 3 on DVD
THE FAMILY GUY takes place in a twisted suburban landscape that bears a superficial resemblance to the world of THE SIMPSONS, but quickly establishes its own distinctive tone and style, distinguishing itself from that mother of all dysfunctional animated families.
The most recognizable characters, however, remain the family's masterminds: evil genius baby Stewie, determined to achieve complete world domination at the age of one, and Brian, an erudite martini-swilling dog, the family's lone voice of reason.
When Family Guy first got cancelled alot of people thought that we heard the last of the show.Well, they were wrong.Family Guy has returned bigger and better than ever.

For Family Guy fans, there are no freakin' sweeter words than "Never Before Seen." A triumphant homecoming for the Griffins, Stewie Griffin is not so much a movie as it is a not-yet-aired three-episode story arc enhanced with a home-video-exclusive "red carpet premiere" prologue and an epilogue (capped, of course, with a fart joke).
is a star vehicle for Family Guy 's breakout character, in which the mega maniacal and matricidal infant has a Grinch-like change of heart after a near-death experience (and a disturbing encounter with Steve Allen in Hell) and, more life-altering, discovers a football-pated man who could be his father (the truth is more shocking!).
Fans of the show will love the usual interplay of the characters and the familiar style and pacing as the film plays out like a regular episode of the show, as it was initiated as a three part episode.

The plots of "Family Guy" episodes often start off in traditional sitcom territory, but the fact that it's animated allows MacFarlane and the other writers to go places a live-action sitcom cannot.

Movie Info for Family Guy [Animated TV Series] on MSN Movies
However, Family Guy went far beyond Simpsons or any other prime time cartoon of its era in its pursuit of the bizarre and the grotesque, and also heaped on more culture-shock gags, in jokes, and obscure movie and literature references than any other series in living memory.
Finally, name another series of the era in which the head of the family would kidnap Pope John Paul I in broad daylight just to prove a point to his father, or a mob boss would demand that the family take a petulant "wiseguy" to the movies, or Mr.
If MacFarlane seemed unhibited during Family Guy's original run, he absolutely ran wild in the "new" version, merrily tossing in random running gags and inside jokes that only the series' most encyclopedic of fans could fully appreciate.
