According to the list, prepared on the basis of the ambient air quality data collected between 1995 and 2002, in Chandigarh, Mandi Gobindgarh, Ludhiana and Jalandhar the pollutants of concern were respiratory suspended particulate matter (RSPM) and suspended particulate matter (SPM).
In Haryana and Himachal cities, the main pollutant of concern was the SPM, except in the case of Parwanoo where the RSPM was also an added concern.
