The data collected by the Pakistan Council of Research in Water Resources (PCRWR) - which is running the project - paints a bleak picture of the quality of drinking water available in the country where 40 per cent of the total number of patients in hospitals are suffering from waterborne diseases.
As much as 87 per cent of the samples collected from various points in Hyderabad were found to be contaminated whereas 75 per cent of those collected in Karachi and Sukkur contained bacteria.
PUNJAB: Sargodha is on top of the list of cities of Punjab possessing contaminated water as 92 per cent of the samples taken from the area contained bacteria.
