This work is Cunningham’s contribution to the series called “Colonial Histories” which is a concentrated look at the history of the thirteen original colonies and their individual contributions to the history of America as a nation.
In his Preface to “Colonial Histories” Cunningham says, “It was inevitable that New Jersey would become the pathway for the foot travelers, the horseback riders, and the stagecoaches moving between New York and Philadelphia and between Boston and the colonies to the south.

The Jesuits promised to the King generous rewards, in the form of tributes, in exchange of the exemption from the "encomiendas" (hard labour to which were subjected all the other Indios), assuring that the region would have been an Imperial dominion thanks only to the Gospel power.

Complete List of NYS Attorneys General
Between 1684 and 1777, the Colonial Attorneys General were appointed by the King of England, or the Colonial Governors on the Crown's behalf.
Until 1702 he was appointed by the governor, after which he was commissioned by the Crown.
By the Constitution the governor was required to do the appointing with the "advice and consent of the council." But in practice it subordinated the governor to the council whenever a majority of the assembly was politically opposed to him, and the annual election of the council greatly increased chances of such opposition.

Guide and Index to Lists of Rulers
One motivation is that history is often not taught anymore in terms of dynasties and rulers, since this is thought (by an academic elite comfortably supported by the taxpayers) to be too elitist and too removed from the life of the people.
The arrangement of these lists thus follows Bryce's principle of universalist ideology, centering on Rome but extending to similar to ideas outside of the Roman world.
The systematic treatment is as follows in the list below, but the list in the box at right simply gives the actual internet files in which basic historical material, with lists and genealogies, is contained.

 Colonial Genealogy Books
This is a basic list of the colonial soldiers of Virginia known to have been engaged in active service, including names of those who participated in the French and Indian War, the Indian Wars, Lord Dunmores War, and various engagements and campaigns prior to the Revolution.
The list was drawn from company rolls, bounty applications, the Washington Papers in the Library of Congress, Henings Statutes at Large, and Journals of the House of Burgesses, and it is believed to represent a large proportion of the entire Virginia militia, particularly after the year 1754, when muster rolls were more carefully kept.
As a rule, each entry gives the name of the colonial ancestor, his dates of birth and death, the name of his wife, his colony of residence, and his occupation or service, all of which is absolutely crucial in any serious genealogical investigation.
