The records were maintained by the Colonial Secretary and transferred to the new Secretary of State in 1783.
Most are in the handwriting of, and signed by, Governor Clinton; a few are in the handwriting of DeWitt Clinton, his nephew and secretary from 1790 to 1795.
For each bill forwarded by the Legislature to the Governor for approval or veto, the Governor's counsel compiled a file, or "jacket," containing supporting or opposing memoranda and correspondence from Executive Chamber staff, legislators and legislative committees, State agencies, local governments, associations, lobbying groups and individuals.

At the top of the list of discontented were the great men and women whose fortunes, supplied at the governmentís expense and living in relative comfort, had been reversed by the British.
As a result, these undercurrents of apprehension and anger broke to the surface at Meerut in the last week of May 1857 after sepoys had been publicly humiliated and punished for refusing to touch the by now infamous Enfield rifle cartridges.
The resulting policy changes, in the wake of 1857, resulted in a stricter perpetuation of Briton's belief that they were the only persons able to properly govern India, while they simultaneously separated themselves from the general Indian populace.

Acting Governor William Watts Hart Davis (1856–1857) wrote that in the Mexican Republic the administration of justice was "rude and uncertain." Since "courts of justice were almost unknown," most legal disputes went to the governors or to the alcaldes, "none of whom were ever accused of knowing any thing about law," he noted caustically.
Governor Calhoun strongly and repeatedly recommended extension of the statute to cover the Pueblos, as it protected other Indian tribes in the United States, in order to shield them from abuses and encroachments, but the statute was not applied to them in the 1850s.
Although Spanish colonial courts had served as tools of acculturation and control, for three hundred years the Pueblo Indians had used those same courts to protect and defend their own interests against Spanish encroachment and exploitation.

The main report which is that of 1830 examines the relations between white settlers the liberated Africans and the slaves in Sierra Leone and Fernando Po, principally with a view to bettering the condition and prospects of the liberated Africans.
The enforcement of the anti-slave trade regulations in the Spanish colonies was the subject of a lively series of correspondence between Spanish and British authorities during 1844-45.
The position of the slaves is delineated and the attitudes of the governments of the colonies reveal the reasons for the slave risings in Jamaica and the difficulties facing the abolitionists in persuading the settlers to adopt the system of apprenticeship and the eventual abolition of slavery.

Although the 1890 veterans' schedule was meant only to record information about Union soldiers and their widows, it also lists information about some Confederate soldiers, as well as soldiers who served in other wars, such as the War of 1812 and the Mexican-American War.

There might be something on that list that is prohibited according to some obscure regulation that you've never heard of.
As for topicality to this list, remember that if they get a national drivers' license database, the issue of a national gunowners' database becomes moot, because the information will simply be added to that national drivers' license database.

The lists of names in four acts relating to confiscation or amercement of estates were omitted in the printing of those acts in volume 4 of Thomas Cooper and David J. McCord, eds., The Statutes at Large of South Carolina.
The manuscript of this roll was deposited with the Secretary of State by agreement between the South Carolina Society of Cincinnati and the General Assembly in exchange for assistance with a limited edition publication in 1886.
