Also, the immigrant lists transcribed as part of this series were corrected and published by Strassburger and Hinke in their three-volume set, Pennsylvania German Pioneers; the researcher would save a lot of time and aggravation to consult the latter publication.
Volume IV contains two lists of soldiers, the one labeled as a list of depreciation pay and the other simply as a list of the men who served in any unit during the war.
The latter list is believed to have been primarily of those men who served in the ranger companies.

Historical Publications: Colonial Records of North Carolina
The accomplishments of both the publication and copying components of the Colonial Records Project have been recognized nationally in various ways: scholarly reviews, financial support from the National Endowment for the Humanities and numerous private sources, and the grant of the coveted Award of Merit by the American Association for State and Local History.
Although the North Carolina Colonial Records Project is an agency of state government, from the beginning the project has also enjoyed substantial and crucial private support.
Volumes II-VI focus on records of the various higher courts in the colony to 1730, while volumes VII-IX concern the Council, the body advising proprietary and royal governors on the exercise of their extensive powers.

Colorado - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The state was named after the Spanish word "Colorado," which means "reddish colored" that presumably refers to the red sandstone formations in the area or reddish brown color of the Colorado River.
Colorado is made up primarily of transplanted citizens, and this is illustrated by the fact that the state has not had a native-born governor since 1975 (when John David Vanderhoof left office) and has not elected one since 1958, in the person of Stephen L.R. McNichols.
Bob Beauprez, considered a highly conservative politician, is running for the governor's seat in 2006 on the Republican ticket.

Chapter 1: The Original Source of Sovereignty
Therein the "United Colonies" were declared to be "free and independent States"; but even then the object plainly was not to declare their independence of one another or of the Union, but directly the contrary, as their mutual pledge and their mutual action before, at the time, and afterward, abundantly show.
First, the issue of whether the Congress represented the people in their direct sovereign capacity and not the regular colonial governments, is entirely distinct from that of whether the sovereign people thus represented were the peoples of the several colonies, or of the nation as a whole.
For example on June 9, 1775, the Continental Congress resolved that, given the illegitimacy of the Act of Parliament altering the charter of Massachusetts Bay, and the actions of the royal governor in subversion of that charter, the governor of that colony be considered absent (overtones of 1689).

The William and Mary Charter was modified in 1725 by the Explanatory Charter, issued by King George I. Further strengthening the position of the governor, this charter gave the governor the sole power to adjourn the House of Representatives and the right to negate the House's choice of their speaker.

The governor general, based in Dakar, was placed over governors of the individual colonies ranging as far as Dahomey and the Ivory Coast to the east, and to Niger and Mauritania to the north.
But in the 1880s, when republican leaders such as Jules Ferry wished to embark on colonial expansion, it could be justified in these terms, as being for the mutual benefit both of France and of her new colonial subjects.
She states that colonial policy was not simply a magnifying glass which exaggerated metropolitan trends, but that there was a two-way relationship; disillusion with the republican civilising mission helped to create suspicion of democratic values at home.
