This is a list of Governors of Virginia since Virginia became a U.S. state following the American Revolutionary War.
The Governor of Virginia is forbidden by the Constitution of the Commonwealth from serving consecutive terms (the only U.S. state in which gubernatorial incumbents are forbidden from running for governor); however, several governors have served multiple non-consecutive terms.
In Virginia, governors and lieutenant governors are elected separately, so the two can be of different political parties and can be political rivals.

Towards Independence: Throughout the colonial period Costa Rica remained one of the provinces ruled by the Spanish viceroyalty in Guatemala (together with the provinces of El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua).
The provincial Governors were always Spaniards appointed by the monarchy, although once settled in the new territory they inevitably set about attending to their own personal interests rather than those of the province and its colonists.
By the mid-18th century, much of the agricultural produce came from small family-run farms since shortages of indigenous labor caused the failure of many of the former large land holdings that had been a prominent feature of the Central Valley's landscape a century earlier.

 Vichy issued its colonial stamps in France
Felix Eboue, the governor general of French Equatorial Africa, was the first colonial governor to declare for De Gaulle and the Free French, on July 16, 1940.
These colonies' defections notwithstanding, Vichy postal authorities continued to issue postage, semipostal, airmail, airmail semipostal and postage due stamps for some of them well into 1944, hoping that the fortunes of war would return the colonies to Vichy control.
In November 1942, Madagascar was liberated by the British and Allied forces that landed in Algeria, Tunisia and French Morocco in North Africa, and the remaining colonies of French West Africa changed allegiance.

He served on the Board of Governors of Wayne State U. in inner-city Detroit for 11 years; he was active in Habitat for Humanity; and was an elder and Stephen Minister of his church.
So would a list of those who came to love him, for he truly enjoyed meeting and learning from people of all backgrounds, ages, and lifestyles, and was never heard to speak ill of anyone.

While President Madison lamented the deterioration of events in Massachusetts and New England, he was a sick man and could not be persuaded to recommend sedition laws or other curbs on civil liberties in Massachusetts, and criticism of his policies.
The Bay colony seemed to be a hotbed of secessionism then and also displayed its patriotism by selling grain to the British with which to supply its army.
To be sure, references to America’s “isolation” can be found in documents dating back to colonial times, but their authors were just stating geographical fact.
