Intelligence quotient - Psychology Wiki - a Wikia wiki
IQ tests are designed to give approximately normally distributed results, which causes a "bell curve" graph of IQ score frequency.
An intelligence quotient or IQ is a score derived from a set of standardized tests developed to measure a person's cognitive abilities ("intelligence") in relation to their age group.
While IQ is sometimes treated as an end unto itself, scholarly work on IQ focuses to a large extent on IQ's validity, that is, the degree to which IQ predicts outcomes such as job performance, social pathologies, or academic achievement.

 Global IQ: 1950-2050
The mean IQ of 185 countries, measured and estimated in Lynn and Vanhanen[1], were taken as the invariant IQ of each country over the 1950-2050 time period.
For each year in the hundred year period, each country's estimated population for that year was apportioned into bins of 5 IQ points using a normal distribution with the mean IQ for the country from Lynn and Vanhanen and the 15 point standard deviation defined for IQ scores.
In a population with a mean IQ of 100, individuals with IQs of 150 occur with a frequency of about one in 2300 people--they're rare, but every medium-sized town has one or more, and even a small country with a population of one million has more than 425 such geniuses.

One example of this was Qatar, whose IQ was estimated by Lynn and Vanhanen to be about 78, yet had a disproportionately high per capita GDP of roughly USD $17,000.
When the overall population of the sample countries is taken into account, the mean IQ of the world as indicated by these figures is about 90, which is different than the standard calibration, which sets the mean IQ of any total population at 100.

ICANN | ICANN Montréal Meeting Topic: Review of ICANN's Geographic Regions
In the discussion, the Board expressed concern about itself deciding how to allocate countries to Regions, but noted that it was necessary to do so and that it was best to refer to some independently prepared and authoritative list for this purpose.
Resolved [00.64] that the staff is directed to assign countries to geographic regions on the basis of the United Nations Statistics Division's current classifications of "Countries or areas, codes and abbreviations," as revised 16 February 2000, and "Composition of macro geographic (continental) regions and component geographical regions," as revised 16 February 2000.
The most relevant list is "Composition of macro geographical (continental) regions, geographical sub-regions, and selected economic and other groupings", which assigns countries and territories to various regions that are easily identified with the five ICANN Regions (Europe; Asia/Australia/Pacific; Latin America/Caribbean islands; Africa; and North America) established in Article VI, Section 5 of ICANN's bylaws.

 DAWN - Cowasjee Corner; March, 6 2005
In 2002, Richard Lynn and Tatu Vanhanen came up with a table, ‘IQ and the Wealth of nations’, which records the national IQ based on arithmetic means as calculated by them : “The number of geniuses produced by a population depends on the population’s mean IQ.
For a population with a mean IQ of 100, an IQ of 158 is present in approximately one individual out of 30,000.
In a population with a mean IQ of 115, there would be approximately one individual per 1,000 people with an IQ over 158, a thirty-fold increase, Thus, differences in the mean IQs of national populations will have large multiplier effects on the numbers of geniuses produced.
