This is a list of sovereign states and other territories by population, using the most recently available official figures.
Because such figures are not collected at the same time in every country, or with the same level of accuracy, the resulting rankings may be misleading.
The list includes all sovereign states and dependent territories recognized by the United Nations plus Taiwan.

The total number of troops deployed abroad as of that date was 252,764, not including U.S. troops in Iraq from the United States.

I attempted to find a comprehensive list of how many troops each country has committed to Iraq as part of George W. Bush's "Coalition Of The Willing." The information was difficult to find - most sources would only have information about a single country, and the numbers in some cases conflicted.
Countries are listed as a "0" if they had troops but pulled them out, or if they were listed as a member of the Coalition, but never sent troops.
Many countries on the list below have publically said they are removing their troops - but until an active removal is underway, I list their current troop numbers.
