This is a list of ethnic, folk, traditional, regional, or otherwise traditionally assiciated with a particular ethnicity, dances by ethnicity or country.
This dance is about the struggle of a lamed bridegroom candidate with his "would be" father-in-law who does not like him as a husband for his daughter even though he is also lamed.
It is performed by a dance couple and incorporates the softness and gracefulness of a woman and dignity and love of a man. It shows that even in love, men uphold their respect and manners by not touching the woman and maintaining a certain distance from her.

This is the sort of class that most everyone on this mailing list will find completely uninteresting (being the things you've probably been able to do in your sleep for the last 8 years), but if anyone is looking to send some newbie folks off for dance education, this is a good chance.

In 1999 the Dance Competitions Committee adopted the line dance list used during the Saltwater International Dance Competition in Virginia Beach, Virginia, as the official list to be used at the 2000 Annual Championship Dance Competition in Houston, Texas.
Thereafter, the Committee began the process of reviewing and revising the list of line dances to be used in all Sanctioned Competitions.
In 2005, line dance review and selection was moved from semiannual to annual conventions in order to allow more time for competitors to learn the new line dances.
