Birding is best done from either the road that runs from San Cristobal, through the forest, to the village of San Isidro on the other side of the serrania or from Hacienda Portugal winding up into the forest.
Unfortunately, it was silent in July and we never saw it, although according to Sjoerd, it is very shy as he only saw it a couple of times in many weeks of birding in suitable habitat, after flushing it from almost underfoot high on mountain ridges further south in Chuquisaca.
Additional species seen at the village on the way in and out were Grey-cheeked Parakeet, Collared Inca, Black Phoebe, Streaked Flycatcher, Tropical Kingbird, Blue-and-white Swallow and Palm Tanager.

2006 IUCN Red List – Summary Statistics for Globally Threatened Species
* It should be noted that for certain amphibian species endemic to Brazil, there was not time to reach agreement on the Red List Categories between the Global Amphibian Assessment (GAA) Coordinating Team, and the experts on the species in Brazil.
However, in the subsequent consistency check conducted by the GAA Coordinating Team, many of the assessments were found to be inconsistent with the approach adopted elsewhere in the world, and a "consistent Red List Category" was also assigned to these species.
There was not time to agree these "consistent Red List Categories" with the Brazilian experts before the release of the IUCN Red List, therefore the original workshop assessments are retained here.
