A fairy (sometimes seen as fairie or faerie; collectively wee folk) is a spirit or supernatural being that is found in the legends, folklore, and mythology of many different cultures.
Tam Lin reveals that the title character, though living among the fairies and having fairy powers, was in fact an "earthly knight" and, though his life was pleasant now, he feared that the fairies would pay him as their teind to hell.
This is in contrast to the solitary fairies, such as the banshee, leprechaun, or pooka.

 Fairy
A fairy is a spirit (supernatural being) found in the legends, folklore, and mythology of many cultures.
The best is the Gilbert and Sullivan operetta Iolanthe which deals with a conflict between fairies and the House of Lords and, among other issues, touches on some of the practical consequences of fairy/human marriages and cross-breeding in a humorous manner.
Fairies are imagined to be sentient insectoids, and the lepidoptera forms the ones most often associated with the term, though the protagonist fairy is of the beetle line!

 Anna Biller Productions--Princess Butterfly
Princess Butterfly is a fairy tale musical appropriate for both adults and children, but mostly for lovers of spectacle and movie musicals.
Butterfly is transformed into a Princess, and the Fairy Sprite explains that she had been an enchanted princess all along, and that the spell has been broken.
The Prince is brought back to life with some magic fairy drops, and the lovers rejoice in their union and in the two most important things in life: being a star, and being in style.

SparkNotes: A Midsummer Night’s Dream: Analysis of Major Characters
The mischievous, quick-witted sprite sets many of the play’s events in motion with his magic, by means of both deliberate pranks on the human characters (transforming Bottom’s head into that of an ass) and unfortunate mistakes (smearing the love potion on Lysander’s eyelids instead of Demetrius’s).
Puck seems to illustrate many of these contrasts within his own character: he is graceful but not so saccharine as the other fairies; as Oberon’s jester, he is given to a certain coarseness, which leads him to transform Bottom’s head into that of an ass merely for the sake of enjoyment.
When Titania, whose eyes have been anointed with a love potion, falls in love with the now ass-headed Bottom, he believes that the devotion of the beautiful, magical fairy queen is nothing out of the ordinary and that all of the trappings of her affection, including having servants attend him, are his proper due.

Sprite art can essentially be boiled down to sculpting a digital image one pixel at a time.

Margin: Exploring Modern Magical Realism/THE TOOTH FAIRY ~ A REVIEW
GRAHAM JOYCE'S The Tooth Fairy is a novel that evades expectations -- or at least, it did for me. Instead of being the kind of coming-of-age story that has me yawning and moving on, it held me riveted as I waited to find out what happened to the protagonist, Sam, and his friends.
But, this strange, darkly sexual tooth fairy is bound by a mysterious set of rules, and if it transgresses, it is also forced to make amends.
Like the tooth fairy itself, Joyce as narrator must walk a fine line, but in his case, it is between explication and suggestion.
