Evangelicalism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Evangelical Christians were a diverse group; some were at the forefront of movements such as abolition of slavery, prison reform, orphanage establishment, hospital building, and founding educational institutions.
Evangelicals, along with trade unionists, Chartists, members of cooperatives, the self-help movement and the Church of England were involved in setting up the temperance movements in the U.S.A., Ireland, Scotland and England.
The mass-appeal of the Christian right in the so-called red states, and its success in rallying resistance to certain social agendas, is sometimes characterized by an otherwise unwilling, and secular, society as an attempt to impose theocracy on the country.

Christianity   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-11)
Christianity is an Abrahamic religion based on the life, teachings, death by crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus of Nazareth as described in the New Testament.
Evangelicals cannot be easily categorised, but almost all will believe in the necessity of a personal conversion and acceptance of Jesus as saviour and Lord, the eventual literal return of Christ, a more conservative understanding of the Bible and a belief in the miraculous.
Crucial beliefs in Christian teaching are Jesus' incarnation, atonement, crucifixion, and resurrection from the dead to redeem humankind from sin and death; and the belief that the New Testament is a part of the Bible.

Jesus   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-11)
Most, but not all, Christians believe that Jesus was literally the Son of God, and one of the persons in the Godhead of the Trinity.
He is, according to the texts of Christianity, the son of Mary (thought to be some as a virgin, though others translate the relevant passage as "young maiden"), and God himself.
The most famous alleged Relics of Jesus are the Shroud of Turin, which is claimed to be the burial shroud used to wrap his body, and the Holy Grail which is said to have been used to collect his blood during his crucifixion and possibly used at The Last Supper.

Catholicism - All About All   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-11)
In Western Christianity the principal groups that regard themselves as "Catholic" without full communion with the Pope are the Chinese Patriotic Catholic Association and some elements of Anglicanism ("High Church Anglicans" or "Anglo-Catholics").
The Eucharist is the sacrament (the third of Christian initiation) by which Catholics partake of the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ and participate in his one sacrifice.
In early Christian centuries, the fourth element was quite onerous and generally preceded absolution, but now it usually involves a simple task (in some traditions called a "penance") for the penitent to perform, to make some reparation and as a medicinal means of strengthening against further temptation.

 Major Religions Ranked by Size
The list was created by the same people who collected and organized this database, in consultation with university professors of comparative religions and scholars from different religions.
A listing of doctrinally and organizationally meaningful divisions or denominational "branches" (such as Catholic, Eastern/Orthodox Christian, Sunni Islam, Shiite Islam, Evangelical Christian, Mahayana Buddhism, Theravada Buddhism, etc.) would clearly be useful, but that is the subject of a different list: Major Branches of Major World Religions.
This list is based primarily on the degree of doctrinal/theological similarity among all the various sub-groups which belong to these classifications, and to a lesser extent based on diversity in practice, ritual and organization.

WOL Catalog - Bible Versions & Translations   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-11)
Christian truth is being challenged as never before by philosophies that are opposed to sound Bible teaching and preaching.
Christians must know the Bible, but they also must be prepared to answer numerous subtle perversions of Bible truth - modernism, ecumenism, the Charismatic movement, a never-ending multiplicity of Bible versions, Christian rock, psychology, positivism and easy-believism, just to name a few.
The problem is, I do not have the time to read and evaluate the multitude of Christian publications out there, nor do I have the time to attend their meetings, etc. Therein lies the value of the ministry that the Lord has given to Bro.

 He Lives
Many former Evangelicals who have converted to the Catholic Church relate how hard it was for them to put aside prejudices and embrace Marian doctrines even after they’d thoroughly satisfied themselves through prayer and Scripture study that such teachings were indeed biblical.
For Evangelicals who have investigated the issue and discovered, to their astonishment, the biblical support for Marian doctrines, there often lingers the suspicion that somehow, in a way they can’t quite identify, the Catholic emphasis on Mary’s sinlessness undermines the unique sinlessness of Christ.
The faithful who at least with a contrite heart perform an action to which a partial indulgence is attached obtain, in addition to the remission of temporal punishment acquired by the action itself, an equal remission of punishment through the intervention of the Church.

 NAZIRENE HOME PAGE
Every day Evangelical Christians prayerfully beseech the Lord to fill them with the Holy Spirit -- to reveal to them the Mysteries of God -- and to open their minds to the true depth of the Word.
What few Christians today comprehend is that it was a great lie that was published by the Church of Rome that the Jews rejected the Son of God!
What few Christians realize today, was that many of the same disciples who physically walked with Son of God on the shores of Galilee, were often sent forth to visit and teach the faithful people who lived throughout every era of time over the past two thousand years.

I am very flattered to find AAQ&SB in company with Skeptico and The Skeptics Society and Skeptic Magazine as one of the featured site(s) at the Skeptic Ring, and here too.
We live in the 21st century and I am glad that some Christians are able to recognize Intelligent Design as fraud and accept evolution as the key of history of life on earth.
Advocates of ID claim without any evidence that a designer has created life, but evolution is the only explanation, which is consistent with the evidence.
