By early February, as many as 5,000 objects were reported to have been recovered in Iraq or abroad, including 1,000 pieces in the United States, 700 in Jordan, 500 in France and 250 in Switzerland.

This Red List should prove useful for museums, art dealers, and police and customs officials and will be widely distributed as part of a campaign to raise awareness of African archaeological heritage.
