List of fictional schools - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
While real schools and universities are often prominently featured in works of fiction, this is a list of schools and universities which are entirely fictional, even though some of them are modeled after real world institutions.
Some fictional schools and universities teach subjects which are not ordinarily taught, such as Witchcraft, Circus Arts, or even Sexuality.
Note that "public school" in the context of this article means tuition-free, government-run school.

 What is a Similar School
Schools with no reported free lunch participation then were assigned a value computed by multiplying the free lunch factor for their grade organization type by the 1990 census percentage of school-age children in the school district from households below federal poverty level.
For each school, where the assessment data existed for the school, the difference of the school value from the appropriate grade organization average was divided by the standard deviation for the appropriate grade organization.
Schools that serve students from Kindergarten through Grade 12 are scattered throughout the State of New York, and may be found in small school districts of varying levels of resources and student needs.

Military academy -   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-08-19)
A military school teaches various ages (middle school, high school, or both) in a manner that includes military traditions and training in military subjects.
Many military schools are also boarding schools, and others are simply magnet schools in a larger school system.
However, this should not reflect on the long and distinguished history of military schools; their associations are traditionally those of high academic achievement, with solid college preparatory curriculums, schooling in the military arts, and considerably esteemed graduates.

NCEF Resource List: Community Use of Schools
The school is thriving in the face of adversity and serves as the true center of the community in the absence of any local governing bodies or civic organizations.
Both the school system and the architect, their historical roles substantially changed with the introduction of new stakeholders, now must adjust to the additional owners and using groups whose criteria sometimes are at odds with the established school system.
Suggests ways that a school district can create a community school with shared use and costs by partnering with community organizations at the outset, when the need for a school is presented, rather than just opening certain areas of the school to community use after it is completed, and expecting widespread community support in return.

Ask students to reflect on their original response in a second freewriting or journal entry, focusing on how their response would change as a result of the class list that was compiled and the personal list of technologies that they identified at the end of the session.
Explain that it’s is fine—indeed likely—that technologies will be repeated on the list as they are shifting their focus from all the technologies they have interacted with to those key interactions with the technologies that have shaped how they have become the technology users they are today.
Conclude the session by asking students what the lists and their stories reveal about the various groups that they are members of—their school, their family, their community, and so forth.

Aspergers syndrome - aspergers syndrome research
During the school years, many are perceived as highly intelligent underachievers, clearly capable of massively outperforming their peers in their field of interest yet seemingly impossible to motivate to do regular day-to-day homework assignments (sometimes even in their areas of interest).
These can be severe, especially in childhood and adolescence; children with Asperger's syndrome are often the target of bullying at school because of their idiosyncratic behaviour, language, and interests, and because of their lower or delayed ability to perceive and respond in socially expected ways to non-verbal cues, particularly in situations of interpersonal conflict.
There is a controversial theory within science fiction fandom arguing that many of the distinctive traits of that subculture may be explained by the speculation that a significant portion thereof has Asperger's syndrome.

Although this speech translation system is probably a decade away from commercial availability, it has the potential to topple the Tower of Babel by bridging the language divide between countries and cultures, said CMU computer science professor Alex Waibel, who directs the International Center for Advanced Communication Technologies, or interACT.
"This is a bit science fiction, but it's clearly a vision we think is very exciting," Waibel said as he demonstrated a prototype of the translator during a videoconference viewed on the CMU campus in Oakland and at the University of Karlsruhe in Germany.

It was therefore virtually impossible for "prehistoric fiction" to arise until the ground was fertile enough to support it, at the end of the 19th century.
