Primera División Argentina - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It is commonly believed that averaging was instituted in the 1980s to minimize the chance of large clubs being relegated, after San Lorenzo de Almagro was relegated in 1981, Racing Club was teetering on the brink, and Boca Juniors had a dismal 1984 season.
Following the advice of Argentina national football team's then coach Carlos Salvador Bilardo, the structure of play was modified in 1985.
Racing Club is the champion with most points during the Campeonato de Primera División system (1931-1966), with 61 points in 1966.

Guardian Unlimited | The Guardian | Do cry for us
Now that Argentina has collapsed, its critics say that the problem was the government's failure to curb spending, its big-budget deficits adding to inflation, putting pressure on the currency and leading to last year's collapse.
Argentina in 2001 was like Britain in 1992, when the John Major administration insisted that the pound would remain pegged to the German mark even as unemployment edged towards three million and record numbers of people lost their homes and businesses.
The second is that Argentina scraps an economic subversion law that was originally passed to deal with leftwing terrorists in the 70s, but is now being used against bankers accused of spiriting millions of dollars out of the country.

Clubs In Crisis - Soccer Australia   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-05)
Two clubs, Carlton and Eastern Pride, did Soccer Australia a favour by folding during the season just finished, partly because sponsorship was impossible to come by as it was seen as a 'dead season' and no club could guarantee they would be in the NSL the following season.
The Football Kingz actually came last on the criteria, but were guaranteed a spot anyway, begging the question as to why they were included in the rankings in the first place.
It also led the twelve remaining NSL clubs to call a meeting, at which they unanimously recommended that Canberra and Brisbane be retained in the league and for the league to be set at 14 teams.

The global top 20 is entirely populated by European clubs, with English clubs occupying eight of the positions, Italian clubs five positions, plus two clubs from each of Germany, Scotland and Spain and one club from France.
The UK clubs, who make up half the top 20, have a much more balanced spread of revenue than their European counterparts. Spanish and Italian clubs, in particular, are more dependent on broadcasting largely due to their individual broadcast rights deals.
UK clubs differentiate themselves through the revenue-earning capability of their stadium facilities. A testament to the Old Firm's utilisation of their stadium facilities, as well as their brand strength, is that the city of Glasgow has as many representatives in the Money League as Spain and Germany and more than France.
