 Dean's List
The Quarterly Dean's List includes the names of matriculated undergraduate students who are pursuing their first undergraduate degree and have attained a quarterly GPA of 3.50 in the final grades for at least 12 graded credits.
The Annual Dean's List high-scholarship award is recorded on the academic transcript of matriculated undergraduate students who are pursuing their first undergraduate degree and have achieved a quarterly GPA of 3.50 in 12 or more numerically graded credits each quarter for three quarters of the academic year (summer through spring).
Additional information on honorary societies may be obtained from academic advisers and the respective campus representatives.

 APS Constitution and Bylaws
A nomination for Honorary Membership shall be signed by not less that three active chapter members in good standing and shall include, in addition to a biographical sketch, a detailed explanation of the achievements or services to the Criminal Justice field that warrant the award.
Honorary members shall enjoy all the privileges of active membership with the exception of the right to vote and the right to hold office.
A current mailing list of honorary members shall be maintained by the Secretary of the Chapter.

 University of Florida Honors Program: Honor Societies
While there are a number of honor societies that are legitimate and are a great addition to your resume, there is also a possibility the organization is simply collecting membership dues and offers no benefit to you.
As an example, if you received an invitation to a society which has no phone number for contact and a website which was "down for a brief period of renovations" it may indicate the society is not legitimate and does raise some concerns.
When considering joining an honor society we recommend you check the list of societies accredited by the Association of College Honor Societies and the Professional Fraternity Association, Inc. There are approximately 45 Honoraries at the University of Florida that meet this criteria.

Phi Beta Kappa is national collegiate honorary society, founded in 1776, with the Washington Alpha Chapter established in 1914.
The mission of the honorary is for members to serve as advocates for other transfer students on campus, serve as possible ambassadors for the UW by visiting community colleges, and serve in leadership positions such as Orientation Leaders and TRIG Peer Instructors.
