List of publications in mathematics - Biocrawler
These are publications that are not necessarily relevant to a mathematician nowadays, but are nonetheless important publications in the History of mathematics.
Among those problems were that of the center of gravity of a solid hemisphere, that of the center of gravity of a frustum of a circular paraboloid, and that of the area of a region bounded by a parabola and one of its secant lines.
A (mathematical) theory of the relationship between the two was put in place during the early part of the 1950s, as part of the business of laying the foundations of algebraic geometry to include, for example, techniques from Hodge theory.

BOL Ch. 2--The Nature of Mathematics
Mathematics relies on logic and creativity, and it is pursued both for a variety of practical purposes and for its intrinsic interest.
Mathematical patterns and relationships have been developed and refined over the centuries, and the process is as vigorous and productive now as at any time in history.
For purposes of general scientific literacy, it is important for students (1) to understand in what sense mathematics is the study of patterns and relationships, (2) to become familiar with some of those patterns and relationships, and (3) to learn to use them in daily life.

 The world's top Mathematics websites
Mathematics might be seen as a simple extension of spoken and written languages, with an extremely precisely defined vocabulary and grammar, for the purpose of describing and exploring physical and conceptual relationships.
Although mathematics itself is not usually considered a natural science, the specific structures that are investigated by mathematicians often have their origin in the natural sciences, most commonly in physics.
An important field in applied mathematics is statistics, which uses probability theory as a tool and allows the description, analysis and prediction of phenomena and is used in all sciences.

Hoover Institution - Education Next - An A-Maze-ing Approach To Math
I am not a mathematics teacher, but I have a degree in mathematics and an intense interest in how the subject is taught.
I compiled a list of questions that I sent by e-mail to various mathematicians involved with the math education issue.
It seems that for now both sides agree that subject matter should be as important as pedagogy and that improving the math education of teachers is probably the most important weapon in the battle.

Middle Grades Mathematics Textbooks Evaluation: Part 1
As a result, their achievement and interest in mathematics stalls, and they are unable to take advantage of the full range of academic and career options in the future.
For this evaluation of middle school mathematics materials, analysts used Project 2061’s Benchmarks for Science Literacy (AAAS, 1993) in the procedure to identify to what extent textbooks address six important mathematics concepts and skills and also provide instructional strategies that are likely to help students learn them.
Analysts of the middle-school mathematics textbooks were evenly divided between experienced, practicing classroom teachers and higher education faculty who were knowledgeable about research on mathematics learning and teaching.

 Geometry
List of publications in mathematics - Euclid's Elements.
It plays an important part in geometry: for example the fixed points of a mapping F from X to itself may be obtained by intersecting the graph of F with the diagonal.
In modern times, geometric concepts have been generalized to a high level of abstraction and complexity, and have been subjected to the methods of calculus and abstract algebra, so that many modern branches of the field are barely recognizable as the descendants of early geometry.

 PKAL » PKAL Publications
PKAL publications, in use on campuses across the county, show how the PKAL vision of what works affects decisions considering student learning in mathematics and the sciences, how to ensure the success of all students, nurture a faculty, and build accommodating spaces.
Given that numerous reports have documented serious problems confronting undergraduate science and mathematics, this report argues for a research-rich undergraduate environment and suggests creating lab-intensive, interdisciplinary classrooms that are strongly supported by faculty, their institutions, and shareholders on a national level.
The intent is to signal that there is a solid base of theory of leadership from which current and rising leaders can shape their future, and to provide a tool for individuals and institutions to figure out what works in their context to nurture and support leaders.
