Urbanization and Empire Formation in World-Systems
Great population size makes possible the assembly of large armies or navies, and this may be an important factor creating or reinforcing steep city size distributions.
And we will examine the temporal relations between the sizes of the largest cities and empires in each region as well as size distributions of cities and empires and the relations between the largest and the second largest cities and empires when data are available.
Another problem with existing data on both city and empire sizes is that they were produced from surveys of both secondary and primary sources that are now, in many cases, obsolete because more recent and better research has been published by archaeologists, epigraphers and historians.

To geologists these islands are considered quite young, dating back 3-6 million years for the oldest islands in the eastern part of the archipelago and less than 1 million years for the younger islands in the west.
Mammals are not very numerous due to their inability to survive such a long journey at sea from the mainland to the islands, except for the 6 mammals considered native to this ecoregion.
The Galapagos Islands were lumped under the broad classification of xeric scrub to better represent the broad scale classifications of ecoregions, and we recognise the unique and diverse species associations that stray from this classification in the montane regions (CDF/WWF In prep.).

When choosing a Galapagos Islands cruise there is a vast array of ships to choose from—large cruise ships with a capacity of up to 100 passengers, to medium sized ships from 32 to 48 passengers, and small yachts for 8 — 26 passengers.
In general the medium and large ships tend to be more stable and spacious, with a greater range of social and evening activities.
However, because of the large number of passengers, there can be congestion when landing, and some sites may be impossible to visit because of the number of passenger and the ship's size.
