Lake Vetter drains eastward by the Motala to the Baltic, Lake Malar drains in the same direction by a short channel at Stockholm, the normal fall of which is so slight that the stream is sometimes reversed.
The population of Sweden in 1900 was 5,136,441.

Sweden emerged from the Napoleonic Wars with the acquisition of Norway from Denmark and with a new royal dynasty stemming from Marshal Jean Bernadotte of France, who became King Charles XIV (181844).
The artificial union between Sweden and Norway led to an uneasy relationship, and the union was finally dissolved in 1905.

The north has so much it is impossible to list it all here but the major, majestic rivers are full of fish and the four northernmost are protected from hydropower development so there fishing is very good.
