As the Cornell law faculty continues to publish studies at the forefront of legal thought, there is every expectation that they will be consulted as the nation's highest courts start their new terms this fall.
Founded in 1991 by Professor Rebecca Redwood French of SUNY Law School in Buffalo, PoLAR was brought to Cornell by Professor Riles, when she came to Cornell as a faculty member in the Law School and the Department of Anthropology.
And among law faculty, 23 percent of the full professors with tenure and 32 percent of the overall law faculty are women, a huge jump from 1963 (the year Ginsburg was appointed to Rutgers law school's faculty), when there were fewer than 20 women among tenure-track faculty at accredited U.S. law schools, she noted.
