The results of a study on the involvement of mathematics teachers in competitions, as well as the positive and negative effects of the competitions on education in Iran, is presented.

The Primary Mathematics Challenge (for primary school pupils) is organised by the Mathematical Association.
The Junior Mathematical Challenge is a multiple-choice competition for students up to year 8 in England and Wales, year S2 in Scotland, year 9 in Northern Ireland.
High scorers in the IMC are invited to compete in the Intermediate Mathematical Olympiad and Kangaroo (for the highest scorers) and in the European Kangaroo (another multiple-choice competition, for other high scorers).

The contests are held for four days early in February.  During that time, teams of up to three undergraduates research and generate a solution for an open-ended, real-world modeling problem.  The official COMAP website with details about the modeling competitions including past problems and lists of ranking of participants.
This competition which is usually held in late March or early April consists of 5 questions similar to those on the Putnam Examination.
