This marked my second Hall of Fame ballot, as you have to serve 10 years in the Baseball Writers Association of America before you are eligible to vote, and I made some changes from my first ballot.
Members of the Baseball Writers Association of America should not be allowed to determine who gets into the Hall, itshould be the managers, coaches and owners the players against whom the nominees competed.
Members of the BWAA are just a bunch of sanctimoneous, baseball player wannabes who couldn't hit a slow curve much less a high hard one.

A quick visit to the Hall of Fame section of Baseball-Reference.com will enable you to review not just all HOFers, but specifically (for my purposes) the period of 1970-1971, when the likes of Earle Combs, Lou Boudreau and then six basically totally unqualified players in 1971 (Marquard, Kelley, Hooper, Hafey, Beckley, Bancroft) were elected.
Studies at Mike's Baseball Rants have demonstrated that the Hall of Fame standards have apparently been raised since the voting debacles of the 60s and 70s - that fewer players from the 70s are gaining enshrinement than from any other era, even adjusting for waiting periods.
The fact that nine of the voting BBWA members in 1982 could deem Henry Aaron unworthy of the Hall of Fame is as disappointing to me as the number of unworthy Hall-of-Famers that have been mentioned in this topic.
