 Liberal Democratic Party (Japan) Summary
For the majority of the 1960s, the LDP (and Japan) were led by Eisaku Sato, beginning with the hosting of the 1964 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, and ending in 1972 with Japanese neutrality in the Vietnam War and with the beginning of the Miracle Economy.
Its members held a variety of positions that could be broadly defined as being to the right of the opposition parties, yet more moderate than those of Japan's numerous rightist splinter groups.
The choice of party president was formally that of a party convention composed of Diet members and local LDP figures, but in most cases, they merely approved the joint decision of the most powerful party leaders.

 Diet, Health, and Longevity
The idea here is that mankind’s optimal diet (the one we have evolved to handle) does not include the "recent foods" that we only began consuming in large quantities in the last 5,000-10,000 years when agriculture began to replace the earlier hunter-gatherer system of food collection.
An ad libitum diet with 15% protein is probably fine for most people because the overall diets are excessive from a CR perspective (that is, 15% of 3000 calories is 450 calories and, at 4 calories per gram, is 112.5 grams of protein).
With a 15% protein CR diet, too little protein is allowed in—the 15% becomes 15% of too small a number for the importance of protein to the human organism (15% of 1500 calories is 225 calories--only 56.25 grams of protein).

 Electoral Reform in Japan?
In 1994 Japan replaced its old electoral system, the single nontransferable vote (SNTV), with a new, mixed member system for the lower house of the Japanese Diet that combines plurality voting in single-member districts (for 300 seats) with regional, closed-list proportional representation (PR) for the remaining 200 seats.
In these countries, the total allocation of parliamentary seats for parties is determined exclusively by the party list vote, meaning that single-member district candidates are included in that allotment.
This party is largely the creation of ex-LDP member Ichiro Ozawa, a strong advocate of plurality voting and the majoritarian politics he believes it will bring to Japan (see his 1994 Blueprint for a New Japan).
