There may be a few passenger lists for the port of New Orleans on-line at The Ship Transcriber's Guild site at at http://istg.rootsweb.com You may also try the FTM CD (#358) that includes the New Orleans list for 1820 to 1850.
It's a long shot, considering the name of the town is only a surmise, but it's at least based on a working hypothesis and worthy of some investigation.

Apparently former name retained, she was named for feminist Amelia Bloomer.
Note that even though the name Shenandoah is a American Indian word meaning "Daughter of the Stars", the navy airship Shenandoah, as well as other ships of the name are named for the river Shenandoah in Virginia.

Half a century ago, there would be no doubt that a ship named after a state of the Union was a battleship, whereas today a ship with such a name might be whatever class of ship found favor with the Navy at the moment.
