However, the fad never truly rubbed off on me, and aside from a cursory knowledge of some of the "mutants" and their powers, I went in to see the first "X-Men" movie, which is already shaping up to become a franchise, without knowing very much in the way of details.
Being a non-fan, it is with pleasure to report that "X-Men" is a good, respectable film--not 'great' by any stretch of the imagination--but one of the very few comic book adaptations that has been successfully translated to the big-screen.
Nonetheless, the visuals are occasionally impressive, particularly a beautiful shot of a snow-covered Canadian vista that is reminiscent of 1999's gorgeous "Snow Falling on Cedars," as well as the climax set atop the Statue of Liberty.

Regarding the recent Binocular List references to the Docter (aka Zeiss/Jena) EDF 7 x 40 and IOR 7 x 40 BGA, I have owned both and found the IOR (at least in my samples) to be the far superior glass, with a wonderfully open and crisp view, and superb build quality.
These could be sold to list members and probably many others outside of the List purely on the basis of the sheer volume of data and expertise available in hand in a volume.
Toshiba is not listed in the J codes, although it is possible that an affiliate of Toshiba with a different name may be on the list.

Raimi's Spider movies are not about the villians anyway, they are about the personal growth of Peter and how his view of his life and the world around him must be altered to fit with his powers.
All that being said, I say a Marvel crossover movie should be a priority once these movies have their conclusions...say Spidey and Blade team up to slay Morbius and Dracula, that would be the s#$%.
A lot of liberties have been taken with the original story, but a lot of respect has also been paid to the source material when making these movies.
