Musicians may also be distinguished as amateur or professional.
Professional musicians may work freelance, contract with a studio or label, or may be employed by an institution such as a church or business such as a bar.

Some genres, however, are quite vague, and may be contrived by critics; post-rock, for example, is a term devised and defined by Simon Reynolds.
In the early to mid-1970s, singer-songwriters and pop musicians dominated the charts, though punk rock and krautrock also developed, and some success was achieved by southern rock and roots rock performers, which fused modern techniques with a more traditionalist sound.
These styles include ambient, downtempo, illbient and trip-hop (among countless others, see list of electronic music genres), which are all related in that they usually rely more on their atmospheric qualities than electronic dance music, and make use of slower, more subtle tempos, sometimes excluding rhythm completely.

When you start writing in those genres you begin thinking in actively productive ways that result in the utterances that belong in that form of life and you take on all the feelings, hopes, uncertainties, and anxieties about becoming a visible presence in that world and participating in the available activities.
In each of these examples, each person through genred communication learns more of his or her personal possibilities, develops communicative skills, and learns more of the world he or she is communicating with.

In modern programming languages, equality of lists is normally defined in terms of equality of the corresponding entries, except that if the lists are typed, then the list types may also be relevant.
The standard way of implementing lists, originating with Lisp, is to have each element of the list contain both its value and a pointer indicating the location of the next element in the list.
A finite mathematical set can be thought of as a list in which duplicate elements are disallowed and such that order is irrelevant; in fact, sets are commonly implemented as lists in which the entries are unique and sorted (for efficiency).

Neowin.net > worst genre of music ever   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-11-07)
IF you have something that annoys you about a genre, just try to ignore it for a whil ewhen you listen to a band from it, enjoy their other qualities, see if they can grow on you.
Good bands aren't defined by genres, they define them.....when a band is afraid to try their own thing, do something new, and instead they stick to the specific rules of a genre for fear of having their music rejected if they are true to themselves....that's when we get ****ty music.
Genres are simply styles, all these artists are doing the same thing, they're just going about it in different ways.

"Genre" is originally a French word meaning "kind", "sort" or "type"; in grammatical terminology, it refers to the artificial concept of masculine or feminine grammatical gender (the noun "genre" itself belongs to the masculine gender in French, for example).
In the field of literary endeavour, we often refer to the "poetic genres" and the "prose genress"; poetry might thus be subdivided into epic, lyric and dramatic, while prose might be divided into fiction and non-fiction.
For this reason, "genre" is such a flexible and mutable term that it has been applied to almost every possible subdivision of artistic endeavour.

A genre of popular music originating in the 1950s; a blend of Black rhythm-and-blues with White country-and-western; "rock is a generic term for the range of styles that evolved out of rock'n'roll.".
This genre became known as progressive rock, and at its most advanced and complex, was hardly recognizable as anything related to the early years of rock and roll.
Rock musicians and fans have consistently struggled with the paradox of "selling out" -- to be considered "authentic", rock music must keep a certain distance from the establishment and its constructs; however certain compromises must be made in order to become successful and to make music available to the public.

Now that Genre has grown in the Mid-Ohio Valley for the past 5 years here with all the great musical talent and network of supporters it is time to spread out to the south corners of Ohio and incorporate other musicians within the tri-state of both sides of Ohio.
With out them Genre would still be a radio show in the Mid-Ohio Valley rather than a radio / internet show which in the past 3 yrs that has hit every continent.
This way Genre is always open to those who want to be apart of this networking program with no limitations ---- so if by chance Creed or Santana wanted to be apart of Genre -- they could maybe be part of a Live concert with other unsigned artists.
