 ARGENTINA NATIONAL PARKS
National Parks From Iguazu Falls to Tierra del Fuego, Argentina maintains a number of national parks (PN), natural reserves (RN or AN), provincial or regional parks (PP) and national monuments (NM).
The parks have an impressive variety of eco-environments, topography, flora and fauna, archaeological and palaeontologic importance and climates.
Most parks have camping areas, some with hot showers and toilet facilities, and/or basic shelters called refugios, meant for trekkers and climbers.

Spanish Abroad - Overview of Argentina
In general, Argentina can be divided into six geographical zones: the fertile central Pampas, marshy Mesopotamia in the northeast, the densely forested Chaco region of the north, high plateaus in the northwest, the mighty Andes to the west, and the stunningly beautiful windswept plateaus of Patagonia.
Argentina is an enormous country, eighth largest in the world, and second only to Brazil in terms of size and population in South America.
Argentina also shares the offshore island territory of Tierra del Fuego with Chile, and continues to dispute the ownership of the Islas Malvinas (known as the Falkland Islands to the British).

National Parks of the Yungas, Argentina
Along with Calilegua, Parque Nacional Baritú is one of Argentina’s only two truly tropical national parks, lying north of the Tropic of Capricorn on the border with Bolivia (Calilegua is just south of the line).
The major exception is the area along the province’s eastern limits, where the verdant subtropical yungas cover the slopes of the Serranía de Calilegua, home to the most accessible of several national parks that preserve this ecosystem in Jujuy and Salta.
One of Argentina’s greatest centers of biodiversity, Calilegua boasts a variety of ecological zones that depend partly on altitude and partly on the microclimates created by its rugged topography, as the annual rainfall varies between 800 and 1,800 millimeters.

On this score there’s a lot of truth in the clichés – their passions are dominated by the national religion of football, politics and living life in the fast lane (literally, when it comes to driving) – but not everyone dances the tango, or is obsessed with Evita, or gallops around on a horse, gaucho-style.
Across the broad midriff stretch Argentina’s most archetypal landscapes: the mostly flat pampas grazed by millions of cattle – subtly beautiful scenery formed by horizon-to-horizon plains interspersed with low sierras, and punctuated by small agricultural towns, the odd ranch and countless clumps of pampas grass.
The book is a very good general purpose travel book for Argentina, with good information about national parks but also but also about the cities and everything else.
