New York City is at the heart of the New York metropolitan area with a population of around 21 million, which itself is part of the so-called BosWash megalopolis extending from Boston to Washington, DC, a core economic region of the nation with a population of approximately 44 million people.
Prior to 1898, New York City consisted of Manhattan and the Bronx, which was annexed by the city from southern Westchester County in two separate actions: the western portion in 1874, and the remaining portion in 1895.

Newark (/nuɚk/), nicknamed The Brick City, is the largest city in New Jersey and the county seat of urban Essex County.
Newark is the home of Rutgers University (Newark Campus); the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT); Seton Hall University's School of Law; the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (Newark Campus); and Essex County College.
Newark is known historically for having a high African American population, recently, however, it is beginning to divsersify, as Brazilians are beginning to gain a strong presence in the city, partiuarly in the Ironbound neighborhood, causing increase in Newarks both Hispanic and White (depending on what they consider themselves) population.

It is the Encyclopedia of New Jersey, on sale April 26, six and a half pounds of pure Jerseyana, nine years in the making and worth every tick of the old Jersey City Colgate's Clock that was spent on it.
Much of the reason for Rutgers University Press's enthusiasm to publish 'The Encyclopedia of New Jersey' is to supplant the self-effacing and, in many cases, self-deprecating view New Jerseyans have of themselves and replace it with a bigger sense of pride.

So wonderfully written and beautifully photographed, that I imagined myself on tour of Philadelphia with a dark handsome man, who rubbed my tired feet after the days journey, at the inn called "A Man Full of Trouble Tavern".
