It's almost to bad that more uprisings didn't occur, becuase even though the resistors were practicly guarunteed death, at least dying in fight against the Nazis would be better than dying in a concentration camp.
Those in the Warsaw ghetto took the initiative and were fighting so that they could have a tomorrow and that hope of a tomorrow is what kept them going.

On September 17, after the Soviet Union invaded eastern Poland pursuant to the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact, Pilecki's division was disbanded and he returned to Warsaw with his commander, Major Jan Wlodarkiewicz.
His superiors approved the plan and provided him a false identity card in the name of "Tomasz Serafinski." On September 19, 1940, he deliberately went out on a street in a Warsaw street roundup (lapanka), and was caught by the Germans along with some 2,000 innocent civilians (among them, Wladyslaw Bartoszewski).
In April 1947 he began collecting evidence on Soviet atrocities and on the prosecution of Poles (mostly members of the Home Army and the 2nd Polish Corps) and their executions or imprisonment in Soviet gulags.

Still although it was short lived many of these individuals who would have eventually died anyways could still be proud of their audacity to stand up against these individuals.
Emphasizing the Warsaw ghetto uprising is not meant to detract from the quieter (though in some ways more effective) reesistance, like the hiding of Jews and the efforts of the White Rose organization to spread anti-Nazi ideas.
The Jews in the Warsaw uprising knew their actions were sure to result in retaliated violence from the Nazis, but they knew that their revolt was not "hopeless"; it only would have been hopeless if no one thought their actions courageous and admirable.

Washington University Law Quarterly: OF HOLOCAUSTS AND GUN CONTROL
Vindicating the rights of individuals by force means imposing costs on a wrongdoer; placing oneself in a position to put wrongdoers at risk benefits private citizens by ensuring individual security and the public by making wrongdoing more costly.
If individual and collective security are antithetical, if violence does in fact beget more violence, if the welfare of wrongdoers and innocents occupy the same moral footing, then it follows that firearms, and for that matter weapons of any kind, should not be used for self defense.
The rendition of this precept into policy is fraught with difficulty, especially since the Oklahoma City bombing has drawn public attention to the existence of a number of individuals who possess a stunning sense of grievance toward the federal government and are content to act out their fury by shedding the blood of innocents.
