 Political Violence
Political parties should hold their own cadres accountable for acts of political violence and take concrete steps to end such acts by immediately and permanently disarming their student and youth wings and bring to justice members known to have participated in acts of murder, assault, arson, intimidation, destruction of property and other crimes.
Political parties should desist from engaging in violent acts of political protest that contravene the Declaration of Minimum Humanitarian Standards, endorsed by the U.N. Subcommission on Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities in October 1994, and Bangladesh law.
Unless all the political parties commit themselves to holding their supporters and organized cadres accountable for acts of violence and intimidation in the run-up to and after the elections, the potential for renewed politically motivated violence remains strong.

Universalism, Justice and Identity Politics: From Political Correctness to Constitutional Law by James Boyle
Bloom's critiques are mainly directed towards the effects of particularism and identity politics on the curriculum of the school, the goal of the university and the personality of the student.
The brilliance of the PC Indictment as a political strategy is that it took the liberal commitment to universalism at its strongest point; the first amendment refusal to treat different types of speech directed at different groups in different ways.
From this point of view, identity politics is a vision of justice grounded in understandable outrage over concrete evils, but perverted by the overweening selfishness of the Reagan years and the particularist tendencies of post-modern culture and philosophy.

Politics is dependent upon lies, fraudulent promises, and misrepresentations.
To accomplish such ends, it is first necessary for the politically ambitious to herd individuals into a collective mindset, a process that requires us to transform our inner, individualized sense of being into an externalized one.
To confront a collectivized mind with normative principles is as much a waste of time as trying to educate a person in differential calculus whose understanding of mathematics has been confined to using an abacus; or to explain the communicative powers of the Internet to a medieval man accustomed to sending fire signals from towers.

Working Papers-Taunting the Turtles and Damning the Dogs:Animal Epithets and Political Conflict in Modern China

Thornton, in her piece on corruption discourse of the pre-Communist era, notes that during both the Qing and Republican periods officials were sometimes castigated by their superiors for treating "human life as grass"--a use of botanical imagery that functions in much the same fashion as the zoological variation Stranahan cites.
As the use of the term "epithets" in the title of this piece indicates, we are primarily concerned here with a particular type of animal imagery--that in which one person or group uses zoological symbolism to dehumanize other individuals or groups.

In short, the NIF dominates political, economic, and military power in Sudan, and the CPA has done nothing for most of Sudan's marginalized people---even the people of southern Sudan who were to have benefited most from this nominally historic agreement.

One had to be able to think in political formulae, to adorn his thoughts in the natural imagery of the political life.
But in the political novel the most dramatic and the most productive characters are, by their very greatness, the more removed from the ordinary world of ordinary men and women….
“The political novelist has, therefore, by the intellectual milieu in which he is at work, many difficulties to overcome before he may draw a spark and then fan it into a flame of enthusiasm in the minds and hearts of the reading class, which is everywhere a democratic class.

Second, we are in debt to the Neoconservatives for their founding of several intelligent serious journals - somewhat narrow in their scope and their readership and in their circle of contributors, perhaps, but containing many valuable articles on public policy, education, and other major subjects of the day.
To expect that all the world should, and must, adopt the peculiar political institutions of the United States - which often do not work very well even at home - is to indulge the most unrealistic of visions; yet just that seems to be the hope and expectation of many Neoconservatives.
The United States cannot be forever unsettling the governments of client states, or small countries, or of allies, on the ground that they are not sufficiently democratic in obedience to the doctrines of Rousseau, or that they "discriminate" against somebody or other, or that they prefer traditional economies to a full-blown abstract capitalism.

The distinction between 'science' and 'politics' is doing more harm than good, since it provides an excuse for (a) politicians using the science as they please, and (b) scientists stepping back and not taking a more active role in the policy forums.
The difference between politics and epistemology in such cases (and they are MOST cases) cannot be easily separated, but it is quite clear that the two parties start out by reasoning about the world quite differently.
