This is a list of political parties around the world in the form of a table including links to the lists of political parties in the countries and entities listed in the list of countries, showing which party system is dominant in each country.
A political party is a political organization subscribing to a certain ideology or formed around very special issues with the aim to participate in power, usually by participating in elections.
Individual parties are properly listed in separate articles under each nation.

 Gabon POLITICAL PARTIES
In the first elections after independence, neither party won a majority in the Assembly, and in the elections held in 1961, the leaders of the two parties agreed upon a single list of candidates; this joint list polled 99% of the votes.
The UDSG was unable to present a list of candidates that would meet the electoral law, and when it seemed that the BDG list would be elected by default, the Gabonese military revolted and toppled the Mba government in a bloodless coup led by Aubame on 18 February 1964.
Emerging from the legalization of opposition party activity in March 1991 was the Association for Socialism in Gabon (APSG), the Gabonese Socialist Union (USG), the Circle for Renewal and Progress (CRP), and the Union for Democracy and Development (UDD).

It was found in 1990 that the absence of women in the leadership of political parties and other organizations and their concomitant absence as candidates for political office were a major cause of women's underrepresentation in legislatures and decision-making.
The lack of women in parties and high-level positions was attributed to the unequal division of labour within the household and absence of adequate social structures to support family responsibilities.
Various political parties and the Roman Catholic Church were said to be trying to force women to return to their traditional roles as mothers and wives.

Gabon's first European visitors were Portuguese traders who arrived in the 15th century and named the country after the Portuguese word "gabao," a coat with sleeve and hood resembling the shape of the Komo River estuary.
Legislative elections held in 2001-02, which were boycotted by a number of smaller opposition parties and were widely criticized for their administrative weaknesses, produced a National Assembly almost completely dominated by the PDG and allied independents.
Gabon's oil revenues have given it a strong per capita GDP of $5,900, extremely high for the region.
