	Revocation of Police Officer Certification
		A bill was passed and sent to the Governor on August 10, 2000, n149 which would have expanded current practice by authorizing cancellation for conviction of any felony in which the amount of time given the defendant was the equivalent of a misdemeanor sentence.
		The bill would have prohibited the Commission from adopting grounds for cancellation beyond those listed in the statute, a power it has according to the Attorney General’s opinion that authorizes cancellation, not just for criminal convictions, but for conduct that indicates the officer is [*565] not morally fit.
		That section stated, “there have been numerous documented cases of officers who have obtained officer employment and certification in a State after revocation of officer certification or dishonorable discharge in another State.” n226 In the implementation section of the bill, there was no requirement that the reason for the discharge be reported.

		Had Americans known what the social and political situation was in Kosovo in the early 1980s, when violent separatist activity in Kosovo began in earnest, the propaganda campaign that explained Albanian terrorist violence and secessionist sloganeering as produced by Serbian oppression of the Albanians could never have succeeded.
		To give a list of crimes is not to convey the genocide either, but at least it provides a context and a historical understanding that a paraphrase would obliterate.
