Suriname is a constitutional democracy, with a president elected by the unicameral legislature.
The country's political life, educational opportunities, and jobs were concentrated in the capital and its environs, while the majority of Amerindians (as well as Maroons) lived in the interior.
Suriname Labor College and other unions subsidized by the Ministry of Labor conducted campaigns aimed at eliminating child labor in its worst forms in various districts of the country, including Nickerie, Paramaribo, and Marowijne; the campaign targeted public and private sector officials, school teachers, students, and caregivers.

PARAMARIBO, Suriname: Political parties in Suriname have expressed concern that the outcome of the May 25 general elections could be tainted.
Five opposition parties on Monday had a meeting with the observer mission of the Organization of American States (OAS), which is led by Trinidad diplomat, Ambassador Corinne McKnight.
In a letter to the OAS mission the opposition said it is “remarkable that the irregularities on the voters’ lists were in the districts where the numbers of followers of the opposition parties are significant”.

It would be political suicide to advocate force against a country like Nepal.
