Articles - Political scandals of the United States   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-14)
Another approach might be to categorize American political scandals by the nature of the alleged wrongdoing (separating "private immorality" scandals, where possible, from graft, bribery, and other abuse of the public trust; or separating misconduct that led to criminal indictment, from non-criminal matters).
An example of this might be the Tailhook scandal, which was generally regarded as a military, rather than a political scandal.
A frequent element of major political scandals is stonewalling, and often a cover-up is involved, which in some cases can even lead to formal criminal charges of obstruction of justice or perjury.
