Brazil: 99999-999 (previously 99999, from 1972 to 1992) -000 to -899 are used for Streets, Roads, Avenues, Boulevards, -900 to -959 are used for places with a high postal use, -960 to -969 are for promotional use, -970 to -989 are public owned post offices and -990 is used in franchised post offices.
In the Åland Islands, the postal code is prefixed with "AX", not "FIN".
Before 1999, postal codes within the province of Istanbul were in the formats of 34999 (for the southern parts of the European side), 80999 (for the northern parts of the European side) and 81999 (for the Asiatic side).

In most English-speaking the postal code goes after the name the city or town whereas in most countries it goes before it and is prefixed with a country code.
Though usually postal codes are assigned to areas sometimes this is not the case: codes may be assigned to institutions with volumes of post such as government agencies large commercial companies.
In the Åland Islands the postal code is prefixed with not "FIN".

Postal Code Formats of the World 13 October 1995 This is a general description of the postal code formats used in various countries of the world.
Within the CEPT (Communaute Europeenne des Postes et Telegraphes?) number-only postal codes may be prefixed with the country code as defined by the UN Convention on Road Traffic (1949, in force 1952) in lieu of the name of the country on the last line.
The postal code is thus precise enough to identify street blocks, particular rural routes or groups of postal boxes.
