The capital and largest city is Hobart, which includes the communities of Hobart, Glenorchy, and Clarence.
The temperate climate (Tasmania is the only Australian state with any land south of the 40th parallel), rustic environment and numerous historic features (for example, Richmond Bridge in southeastern Tasmania is the oldest bridge in Australia) make Tasmania a popular choice for retirees who prefer a temperate climate over a tropical one such as Queensland.
Tasmania is separated from the Australian mainland by Bass Strait, reputed to be one of the potentially roughest waters in the world.

urban sprawl - Article and Reference from OnPedia.com
It is highly likely that its area would be substantially larger if it had originally been a part of neighboring China rather than a territory of the United Kingdom.
At the same time, the urban cores of these and nearly all other major cities in the United States, Western Europe and Japan that did not annex new territory experienced the related phenomena of falling household size and white flight, sustaining population losses.
On the other hand, the state of Oregon enacted a law in 1973 limiting the area urban areas could occupy, through urban growth boundaries.

Why are the postcodes listed twice, once by number and once by suburb.
I would see this list best used by transfering the postcode information onto the List of Canberra suburbs page, listing the postcode after each suburb.
OK I see now that someone was going through and converting the page from Alphabetical to numerical and has stopped at G. I still think that the information would be more useful on the list of suburbs page, but maybe this page could stand on it's own if it was finished.

For postcodes with a very large number of the reference population, where selecting a fixed cluster size would mean that children in that postcode would have a lower chance of selection than other children in the same stratum, a process will be applied to ensure that all children will have the same chance of selection.
Sufficient postcodes need to be chosen across Australia to help ensure the representativeness of the sample and to help minimise sampling error, but there need to be sufficient children selected within each postcode for operational efficiency and to allow for analysis of community level effects.
Postcodes in the other states were selected to include areas with high numbers of families from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, remote areas, Indigenous areas and inner city areas.

A child under 18 years of age loses Australian citizenship if his/her responsible parent or guardian ceases to be an Australian citizen, and o he/she possesses another citizenship at the time, and o his/her other responsible parent is not an Australian citizen at the time.
Should you lose Australian citizenship before your 18th birthday, as a result of a responsible parent ceasing to be an Australian citizen, you can, within one year after your 18th birthday (or later if special circumstances apply), make a declaration that you wish to resume Australian citizenship on the date the declaration is registered.
This leads to an important question, which is what happens when Australian parents have a child in a country that does not confer citizenship automatically on the child and do not register the birth.

The Australian region was not the first piece of land to be called New South Wales.
