Serbia is the bigger of the two republics which have now been transformed into the Federation of Serbia and Montenegro.
On 11 July the Supreme Court of Serbia accepted the appeal of the founder, publisher and editor-in-chief of the weekly Svedok and reversed the verdict of the District Court in Belgrade of 6 June that prohibited the distribution of the paper and remanded the case for a new trial.
Leaders of opposition parties said the decision of the RTV Montenegro Council was connected to the session to be convened at the Montenegrin parliament to discuss confidence in the Government and the proposed legislation on extra-profit taxes.

Among the issues Ironside discussed were station structure and organization; newsroom organization; effective use of resources; budgeting and financial planning; staff development and motivation; localized problems such as low salaries and sick leave; establishing systems to improve programming; dealing with political pressure (in the case of the municipal stations); and working towards privatization.
The majority of stations have made some progress on their programming and scheduling, however they are still struggling to increase commercial revenue due in part to the effects of privatization.
In addition to housing the entire B92 organization under one roof, the new building includes two television studios and five radio studios, as well as other workspace for control rooms, a common newsroom, an editing area, space for reviewing and recording material, archives, and much-needed office space.

The Multiethnic Police Force in southern Serbia was composed primarily of ethnic Albanians and Serbs.
Ethnic Albanian leaders of the southern Serbian municipalities of Presevo, Bujanovac, and Medvedja continued to complain about the underrepresentation of ethnic Albanians in government structures.
After a radio station carried the home address of a Muslim boy who was injured when he fell from the roof of the mosque, an explosive device was thrown at his house.

In Montenegro, where the media environment is more liberal and there is greater variety of and access to free news and information than in Serbia, ANEM members serve as an important bridge between the information environments of the two republics.

Representatives from the largest municipal stations in Serbia took part in courses designed to help stations develop a commercially viable sound that attracts audiences and helps maintain their approach to providing fair, honest, and accurate news.
Considered one of Serbia's main industrial and economic centers, Krusevac has a lot of rebuilding to do, both in terms of infrastructure and in terms of repairing the damage that Milosevic and his regime wrought on this ancient town.
This is the first time that stations in Serbia have had training in this area and it proved to be important, as the Peoplemeters have just been introduced into the market in Serbia.

Adopt liberal criteria for citizenship applicants who lived in Serbia or Montenegro and considered one of these republics their primary community while it was a part of the former Yugoslavia.
As the current crackdown on demonstrators in Serbia shows1, human rights violations in Yugoslavia are committed against all citizens: the lack of an independent judiciary, state control of the media and a brutal police force have a negative effect on the rights of all people, regardless of ethnicity.
The mid- and late-eighties were marked by a distinct rise in Serb nationalism, especially from Serbs living outside of Serbia proper.
