List of relativistic equations - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The following definitions and equations should be applied to any situation when the speed of an observer or object is greater than one tenth of the speed of light.
In modern treatments of special relativity, mass is always defined as the mass measured by a comoving observer, and is therefore synonymous with the rest mass.
This article contains only a very few of the definitional equations of the Theory of relativity.

Fundamental Nature of Relativistic Mass and Magnetic Field
Equation 25 shows that the magnetic mass of the moving electron is, within experimental accuracy, identical to the increase of relativistic mass for any velocity of the particle.
We have seen in equation 17, that when an electron is accelerated, that moving electron possesses kinetic energy, which is equal to the magnetic field induced by the electron, and which is also equal to the relativistic mass.
Therefore, the fundamental phenomenon responsible for the increase of relativistic mass with velocity is the magnetic vortices of the electric field, as calculated with the Biot-Savart equation.

The greatest equations ever (October 2004) - Physics World - PhysicsWeb
The equation that describes the Balmer series of lines in the visible spectrum is a good example, as are chemical equations that embody observations about reactions seen in a laboratory.
He distinguished between equations (such as F = ma) that comprise axiomatic models that "define the interrelationships between various observables for all circumstances" and equations that are approximate models (such as Hooke's law), which define "the interrelationships between the various observables over a defined range and within a defined accuracy".
The equation's history was continued by Lyman's observations in the ultraviolet region and by others in the infrared, by Rydberg (who gave his name to the constant R in the equation), and by Bohr, whose work in 1913 explained the equation.

 Maxwell's Equations
The electromagnetic field equations have an intimate link with special relativity: the magnetic field equations can be derived from consideration of the transformation of the electric field equations under relativistic transformations at low velocities.
This equation is related to the magnetic field's structure because it states that given any volume element, the net magnitude of the vector components that point outward from the surface must be equal to the net magnitude of the vector components that point inward.

The line integral of the magnetic field around a closed curve is proportional to the sum of two terms: first, the algebraic sum of electric currents flowing through that closed curve; and second, the instantaneous time rate of change of the electric flux through a surface bounded by that closed curve; in differential form,
A naive calculation would indicate that, without special relativistic effects, the muons would travel on the average only about 700 m before decaying, never reaching the surface of the Earth.

Relativistic Deflection of Light Near the Sun Using Radio Signals and Visible Light
The same relativistic phenomenon which produces the predicted deflection of 1.75" is also responsible for the slowing down (compared with the absolute velocity of light c) of the radiation between Mars and the Earth.
Consequently, equation 7 shows that, everywhere in space, light is transmitted at a velocity slower than the accepted definition of the velocity of light known on Earth.

The effect is nonrelativistic; that is, special relativity is not required to derive it: all that is needed is Newtonian mechanics and the assumption of the constancy of the speed of light.
The effect is observable in the apparent change of position of stars due to Earth's relative motion, and is responsible for the "tunnel vision" effect of travelling at relativistic speeds.
This was later modified to add a second term when it was incorporated into Maxwell's equations.

Some Scientifically Inaccurate Claims Concerning Cosmology and Relativity   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-22)
It is true that (by construction), their spacetime is static, but unfortunately, their "solution" contains two plates composed of material which grossly violate the energy conditions of gtr, the relativistic analogues of the requirement in Newtonian gravitostatics that the matter density be everywhere nonnegative.
It is therefore not surprising that Einstein and his successors have regarded the effects of a gravitational field as producing a change in the geometry of space and time.
And the pre-launch adjustment of clock rates to compensate for relativistic effects then hides the fact that all orbiting satellite clocks would be seen to tick slower than ground clocks if not rate-compensated for their orbital motion, and that no reciprocity would exist when satellites view ground clocks.
